Australian Partner Visa Application #COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE

Introduction
Transitioning to life in a new country for study or work can often lead to feelings of isolation, particularly when separated from your partner. However, with the assistance of Aussie Academics and Migration Services (A2MS), applying for an Australian Partner Visa becomes a streamlined process. This guide aims to simplify the journey and provide essential information for your partner's visa application.
Types of Partner Visas
1. Onshore Partner Visas
These visas allow you to apply and remain in Australia while your application being processed by the DoHA. The initial stage is provisional (subclass 820), and after two years, you may be eligible to apply for the permanent Onshore Partner Visa (Subclass 801) by submitting additional documentation.
2. Offshore Partner Visas
Designed for applicants applying from outside Australia, these visas enable your partner to join you in Australia. The process involves applying for both the Provisional Offshore Partner Visa (Subclass 309) and the Offshore Migrant Partner Visa (Subclass 100) simultaneously. After holding the temporary visa for two years, your partner becomes eligible for permanent residency.
3. Prospective Marriage Visas
These are for individuals engaged to an Australian citizen or resident. It allows a stay in Australia for 9 to 15 months, during which time marriage to your partner is required.
Eligibility Conditions
To qualify for a Partner Visa:• Your partner must be an Australian citizen, a Permanent Resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.• Both you and your partner should be at least 18 years old.• You must be married or in a genuine de facto relationship, living together and sharing financial and domestic responsibilities for at least 12 months.• The relationship must be exclusive and genuine, supported by evidence such as marriage certificates or ceremonial pictures. Additionally, there are sponsorship eligibility criteria, including character requirements and limits on previous sponsorships.
Visa Application Checklist
Essential documents for a Partner Visa application include:• Financial documents demonstrating shared financial responsibilities.• Household documents proving cohabitation, such as bills or official correspondence addressed to both partners.• Social evidence indicating a shared social life and involvement in community activities.• Proof of commitment, including future plans and shared goals.• Documentation showcasing the duration and growth of the relationship, such as letters, texts, or call history.
Two-Stage Visa Application Process
The application process involves applying for both temporary and permanent partner visas simultaneously, with a once application fee. After meeting the requirements, subject to the chosen visa subclass and other eligibility you may receive a temporary visa, allowing you to reside in Australia while the permanent visa is processed. Additional documentation is required for the permanent visa stage, typically after two years of holding the temporary visa.
Cost and Processing Time
DoHA Visa Application fees start from $8,085 AUD for most applicants, with exceptions for Prospective Marriage Visa holders. Processing times vary, but typically the processing period for a permanent Partner visa begins two years after applying for both temporary and permanent visas together.
Conclusion
Preparing a successful Partner Visa application requires thorough documentation across various aspects of your relationship. Providing comprehensive evidence of your commitment, shared finances, household, and social life strengthens your case. While the process may seem complex, attention to detail and diligent preparation significantly enhance your chances of a successful outcome.
